Pushpa saves Asha’s baby
Married at a young age, 18-year-old Asha recently gave birth to a baby girl at a public health post at Dodhari in Bardiya district. Her family get help from a female community health volunteer in her village to help her through the pregnancy process, assisting her with advice and information on taking nutritious food, vitamins and iron tablets, and going for regular check up. In addition, her FCHV also encouraged her husband and mother-in-law to take her to the health post to give birth in the presence of skilled birth attendants.

Hari Maya decides to go the birthing centre
Hari Maya (26) gave birth to her fourth child, a boy in the early hours of the morning in Saurahawa PHCC (Primay Health Care Centre). She went into labour late at night and her husband and three of his friends from the village carried her for over an hour to the birthing centre on Khatiya (wooden bed post with jute lining).
When she was three months pregnant, she consulted her female community health volunteer Mathura.
